The Desperate Need for a Revival of Sabbath Observance

Truly, one of the most hotly contested issues in the American church is the fourth commandment- “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy” (Exodus 20:8). Is Sabbath observance still binding upon the New Testament Christian? What is it’s relevance to today? Do we really only have nine commandments and a one suggestion? I believe a revival in the church will be accompanied by a revival in Sabbath observance. In other words, the total disregard for the Sabbath is one of the sins that the church must repent of if there is to be spiritual renewal. In his sermon entitled, Holy Day or Holiday, Alistair Begg, senior pastor of Parkside Church near Cleveland, Ohio, and world renown preacher on the radio program, Truth for Life, masterfully lays out the case for the continued obligation and relevance of Sabbath observance for today’s Christian.

After listening to Pastor Begg’s message, I was convicted of how loose I have become with the day, even being one who holds to and teaches observance of the Lord’s Day. I have allowed the world to infiltrate how I hallow the day.

Since I cannot even come close to presenting this issue as well as Pastor Begg did, I am linking below to his sermon. Please take the time to listen to both parts of the message!
